Pricing
How pricing works
Plumbing prices depend on the job, so we list none here. What we can do is tell you what moves them and when you get the number.
What decides the price
Four things move a plumbing price more than anything else.
What has to be opened to reach the pipe: a wall, a floor or a ceiling.
The pipe and the fixture: its age and material, and whether the part is on the van or has to be ordered.
Finish work: who repairs drywall, tile or paint once the plumbing is done.
How much has to be moved or protected in the room.
What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't
The written price covers the plumbing: labor, parts and any permit fee, each on its own line.
Not included unless listed: opening and closing walls, drywall, tile, paint and carpentry.
Not included unless listed: fixtures you choose and supply yourself.
What happens at the visit
The technician follows the protocol, walks the job with you, photographs what they find and writes it up. The visit has a charge, which we tell you when you book. If you go ahead with the work, it is credited toward the price.
After hours
We don't run a night line. The phone is answered Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday morning; calls after that go to voicemail and are returned the next working morning. If water is running and you can't stop it, shut off the main valve and call an emergency plumber near you.
When you get the number
In writing, by text or email, before any work starts: a fixed price for the job described. If the technician finds something else once the wall is open, we stop, show you a photograph and write a new price before going on.
Prices vary by job. If a number here ever conflicts with your written price, the written price is the one that counts.
Questions about the bill
Is the visit charge credited toward the work?
Yes. If you go ahead with the job we described, the visit charge comes off the written price.
Can the price change after you start?
Only if the work changes, and only with your yes. We stop, show you a photograph of what we found and write a new price first.
When do I pay?
When the work is finished and you have walked it with the technician. For larger jobs the written price says what is due at each stage.
